Sheila S. York is an attorney by profession, advocate by purpose and mentor by choice. Sheila currently works as an Assistant State’s Attorney within the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, where she has served for more than 17 years, prosecuting all level felony cases. Sheila serves in numerous legal organizations and on educational boards and is the legal redress Chairperson for the Westside NAACP chapter. Each year, Sheila reaches back and mentors incoming first-year law students at her alma mater, Northern Illinois University, College of Law. Sheila is a strong advocate for education and youth development, believing that you can't be what you don't see and striving to provide young people with visible role models who inspire
them to pursue their potential.
